Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
