Edwards and O'Neil Among Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Contenders

Rob Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the squad's ten-game winless start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the club - are part of the options to be evaluated by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
